The REOFFENDERS

Punk Rock: Classic and Modern

The REOFFENDERS are on an indefinite break. Never say never, but we currently have no plans to play. However, we had joy and we had fun... and we blogged about it. Enjoy reading and reliving some good times.

Cillit-Bang plays a Blinder!

The gig at the Lime Tree on Saturday was rockin!!!

Si Cillit-Bang took to the stage for this first gig with us and was great. We'd been working on some new songs with Si and they went down a storm with little ditties like Babylon's Burning and London Calling - songs to make a bassist zip up and down the fretboard.

At a previous gig, we'd been told that The Pixies wasn't as popular with the audience as the more well known songs, which is a fair point. But blow me down, we were asked to play Debaser a second time! Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous was greeted with cries for more Good Charlotte whilst Swords of A Thousand Men gave us an opportunity for more props. We don't have swords, so we brought lightsabers!

We did our usual encore before being brought back for a repeat of I Want Candy and Debaser. Of course we had to finish with Telvis the landlord singing Teenage Kicks with us.

All in all, a cracking night! Cheers to everyone who was there and gave us so much enthusiasm.

Blimey Trousers

John's been looking for a pair of trousers of the same eye catching quality as his red shirt. It's taken a while but came home from town with a pair of red combats from Gear Garrison, specially for stage wear.

Now the audience will have to wear sunglasses as well as John!

Sadly I don't think the red shirt will go with the new trousers very well so that's his next mission, to find a shirt/t-shirt worthy of accompanying the combats.

May the force be with you

Bethy Bosch Page

Because Beth's been in the band for so long, it felt wrong somehow just pressing delete every time I came across a picture of her. So, there is now a Bethy Bosch page to this website. It's not very extensive at the minute, but I'll try to add some more pics soon.

The Tossers Win .... for now

It is with great regret, that I've had to remove the functionality to add to the guestbook. This is due to some tossers who were trying to increase their Google rating by putting their web link on as many web sites as possible. However they seem to be a bit lazy, and just repeatedly hit me. I removed 15 entries today that were put there in the last 24 hours, and it's just becoming a pain in the arse to be honest.

Until I find a solution which allows genuine people to post easily while blocking the tossers, we'll have to rely on feedback by email. Sad ain't it!

Bethy Bosch - in her own words

Bethy Bosch at The Bowling Green
Saturday was Beth's last gig for the REOFFENDERS as she moves up to Leeds v.soon. I just got this email from Beth, and as she's not much of a blogger I thought I'd stick it here for her. Brings a tear to me eye.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to say thanks for the pressies on Sat/Sun ... Can't wait to try out the new guitar strap and the gold disc will get pride of place in our living room in Leeds! I should be sorted for a light for a while too thanks to the REOFFENDERS lighters.

Think we sounded great which makes me even more miserable to be leaving. Glad I went out with a good gig tho (despite the slight amp drama at the start (good recovery from everyone I thought)!!). Also wanted to wish you lots of luck for the future and lots of luck to my successor, Mr Cilit-Bang. Although I'm sure he won't need it.

I've gone from dreading and fearing doing gigs to loving it, which I think says a lot about how much fun it really is being a Reoffender.

It's been great playing with you and I hope I get to see you all again before we bugger off up north!

Love and punky hugs,

Bethy Bosch-Ramone

PS - and I didn't blub (not until I got home anyway, ha ha)

WattsFest 2005

Great bands, great company, great venue... and it didn't rain.

Top marks to the WattsFest team for this one. Especially Greg who did the sound all day, fuelled only by a four-pack of 2 litre bottles of coke (although Heather suspects he had a hidden cache of Haribos behind the mixer desk!

Another big cheer musst go to S.O.B. who played two storming gigs one after the other. Firstly they played an hour of fantastic rock and got everybody up and dancing and then, they kept it going for another hour to form "the best damn audience we've ever had". These guys had a mini mosh pit going for us down the front. Awesome! They threw a S.O.B. tshirt at me and I shall wear it proudly to their next gig.

Cheers to Dark Sovereign who opened the show and were lovely neighbours in the campsite. They've got a good deep rocky backline with great haunting female lyrics over the top. They're good already, and I know they will get better and better. There's an ep out soon i believe. We'll be checking that out.

We loved Zubini and Harry Munday too. Harry did a great one man set with just his guitar and Zubini rocked the house (field) right!

Then there was Nube, who seemed a little hesitant on the night and never looked too relaxed. They come all the way london too.

The Pleasure Seekers were a bit tuneful for me but there was true star quality right through. The last "tearjerker" tune specially had all the makings of a big hit. If these guys turn up at a festie near you, then lie back on the grass and let these melodies drift over you and you'll be impressed.

S.O.B. - frankly they're just a bunch of drunken no-hopers. I've no idea who let them play ;o)) They were truly magic. They seemed to play more of their original stuff than last time out at the 3FF and it all sounded great.

This was Bethy's last outing for us and I can only fall on my knees to praise everyone there who made it such a great last night for her. We ended with the crowd chanting "Bethy Bethy".. wot a finish!
