The REOFFENDERS

Punk Rock: Classic and Modern

The REOFFENDERS are on an indefinite break. Never say never, but we currently have no plans to play. However, we had joy and we had fun... and we blogged about it. Enjoy reading and reliving some good times.

Butlins

The REOFFENDERS made their way to sunny Minehead to play Butlins on Saturday night.

The venue was twice the size of our Skegness venue and with a bigger stage.... just about big enough to fit Hoover's ego in we reckoned. We were shown to our dressing room (ooh er) with our name on the door and everything (cor!). It's so nice not to have to get changed in a toilet ;-)

We mooched out into Skyline which is the main eating area, bought some grub and sat outside in the sun watching the world go by. When people go to Butlins, they make a real effort to dress up. There were disco divas, glam guys, village people, pink ladies and medallion men. You know, the usual! All very surreal.

We stormed through a set of non stop 70s punk. Hoover wandered off into the audience to charm the ladies whilst Indesit joined the air guitar guys in front of the stage. A true Kodak moment! Cheers to the people from Paignton who came and said hi, and also to the couple who got punked up for us.

We were first up so it gave us a chance to sit back afterwards and enjoy Abba Forever before we trundled back down the wiggling roads to Exeter.

So when can we do it again?

Catch up Time

It's been a busy time for The REOFFENDERS lately, so busy that I haven't updated you all on what we're so busy doing!

May saw Tosh and Smeg's last gig, and Bully and Katie's first gig. It's difficult at the best of times to replace band members but doing two at a time was a bit of a challenge. But the new guys did brilliantly and have now played 5 gigs with us. We even bagged a new song in the process so look out for another Damned track at a gig near you.

Thursday nights seem to be making a comeback in Exeter, which is good news. We played our first gig at The Longbrooke a couple of weeks ago, and this week we're at either the Bowling Green or the Crawford on Thursday. You see, The Bowling Green management are taking over the Crawford... possibly this week. So if they've moved, that's where the gig will be. If they haven't, it'll be the Bowling Green. Confused? yep, us too ;-) Hopefully I'll get it confirmed in the next 24 hours.

From a personal point of view, it would be quite nice to go back to the Bowling Green before it changes hands again. Last time we played there, the place was rammed with everyone dancing their socks off and sweat dripping off the ceiling. Magic!

Hoover and I had a nice afternoon out yesterday at Bradninch, watching an afternoon of music (including our very own Bully "Baby" Belling). Well done to the people of Bradninch for putting on such a great event. If you've never been before, get yourself along there next year.
