The REOFFENDERS

Punk Rock: Classic and Modern

The REOFFENDERS are on an indefinite break. Never say never, but we currently have no plans to play. However, we had joy and we had fun... and we blogged about it. Enjoy reading and reliving some good times.

Chris T-T is still out there!

John got an email from the Attilla the Stockbroker mailing list advertising gigs which include Chris T-T of "Can't Stop Dreaming About Injured Popstars" fame.

John's emailled him to let him know that we are doing his song and to see if he has any other gems

Recording Session and CDs

Starting to get a wee bit excited about the impending recording session (5th Feb). We've got another practice before then to polish everything up a smidge more, but the setlist for the CD will be:

  • Anarchy in the UK (normal version)
  • Teenage Kicks (complete with Ska dropout)
  • I Want Candy
  • Toxic
  • 99 Red Balloons

We did abit of work on the Andy Williams version of Anarchy last night (Anarchy drops out nicely to Can't Take my Eyes Off of You at the guitar break) but we're going to stick with the ordinary version for the CD.

Paul's got a mate who's going to give us some ideas for the CD cover involving charactertures and John's got some ideas for spoof movie stills for the insert. We were asked to take some CD's to the Paignton gig to sell so once we've sorted out the Music Union stuff, we should be ok.

Another New Song

We've got another new song almost in the bag - Hong Kong Garden. Has anyone actually listened to the words? Utter nonsense! But then I guess it was written about a Chinese Takeaway - how meaningful can you make it?

I did my very best Siouxie voice and have to say that I felt a bit of an idiot emphasising words the way she does, but I'll keep plugging away.

I finally found a harmony to I Wanna Be Sedated which makes the song SOOOO much more interesting for me. Bethy was a little traumatised - "It's the Ramones! You can't harmonise!!!"

London Calling and Hurry Up Harry are homework before next band practice. I've also gotta find some more girly songs so any suggestions would be gratefully received. Bethy's gonna lend me an X-Ray Specs album to listen to but I'm still to be persuaded on that one, Polly Styrene gets on my nerves. Too screechy, too screechy!

After the Gig

My throat feels like I've swallowed barbed wire! urgh!

The gig was great, we had some new songs since our last visit to JJ's: I Want Candy (which was requested a second time at the end), I Wanna Be Sedated, I Can't Stop Dreaming of Injured Popstars and So What!

We've had So What! in the bag for ages but have always erred on the side of caution in case we caused too much offence. It is a pretty gross song: old men, goats, drugs - not nice! The first time we intended to play it was at Blackborough Village Hall last summer. Unfortunately everyone in the village had brought their kids, and as there was a 2 year old ramming a push chair at my mike stand as a constant reminder, we decided we had better drop it on that occasion.

Radar from BMAD came to the gig last night and, after he's seen us he still wants us to play his gig! Hurrah! He booked us for the Paignton gig after hearing Toxic on the Sounds page of the website so that was pretty cool.

We have abit of a shortage of gigs at the minute though. Terry from Entertainment FX gets us some bookings but we'd like to step it up abit. We're hopeful that once we've got some decent sound files, we'll be able to promote ourselves abit better. Role on the recording session.

There seemed to be alot of sniggering at the particularly rude bits of So What. "he he he Beavis, he said f***. he he he"

Virgin Post on the blog

It's like being first one to run through the snow!!! :-D

Tomorrow night sees the REOFFENDERS revisit Judge Jefferies. Beth and I have been postering and leafletting around Exeter so hopefully we'll see some new faces. We've got afew new songs so that people who have seen us before will have some newies in the set. Mr Hoover and I have also been putting together some sounds to play before the gig starts and between sets. Should keep everyone in the mood!

See ya there fellow punksters!
