The REOFFENDERS

Punk Rock: Classic and Modern

The REOFFENDERS are on an indefinite break. Never say never, but we currently have no plans to play. However, we had joy and we had fun... and we blogged about it. Enjoy reading and reliving some good times.

Introducing Justin Hotpoint

The Reoffenders' bass player position is as hot as the Defence Against the Dark Arts job at Hogwarts!

Si Cillit Bang joined the band last October after Bethy Bosch left when her job moved to Leeds. Sadly Si's new job is taking much of his time and he's decided to hang up his bass for the time being.

So, The Reoffenders will begin April with their third bass player in a year, Justin Hotpoint. Justin responded to an internet ad on Lemonrock for the job which shows that lightning can indeed strike twice (Paul Indesit was also an internet discovery) and wowwed us at auditions.

Exciting times are ahead.

Five Go Mad in Cornwall

Pack the sun lotion, the Cornwall tour is on!!!! The Current schedule is

Mon 24th July - Truro (TBC)
Tues 25 July - day off
Wed 26 July - Padstow
Thur 27 July - Porthtowan
Fri 28 July - Taunton
Sat 29 July - day off
Sun 30 July - Exmouth

Those of you who are sharp on your Geography will spot that Taunton and Exmouth aren't in Cornwall. Well done, go to the top of the class. Those gigs were already booked before we went for the Cornwall tour and it all just happened to collide together. It'd be rude to turn down a gig so what the hell, we'll join it all up!

I'm waiting to confirm Truro before I start looking for campsites, although Brucie is talking about poshing it and staying in a hotel! Wimp!

Recording

This Saturday, The REOFFENDERS go back to the Old Mill Studio to record.

We had this booked before Si made his announcement (it's part of our winnings from the Battle of the Bands competition last year) and Si wanted to leave a legacy behind.

We're going to go for a smaller number of songs this time. Favourites to be included so far are: Want you to Want me and Babylon's Burning.

Paul has recently bought some recording equipment of his own. He's in 3 projects at the moment so it makes sense! He played me his home recording of Bad Girl, Naughty Girl, Back in Your Box and it was rather good. He's got a bit more polishing to do with it but watch this space and we'll keep you posted about the first Indesit Sessions.

A Bit of Sad News

Si Cillit-Bang has decided to leave The REOFFENDERS so that he can devote more time to other commitments.

He'll be with us for a while yet while we look for a replacement and would appreciate any well wishing bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale going in his direction.

Cheers Si. You stepped in at a difficult time for us when Beth left and it's been fun. And I love watching you play Babylon's Burning. Very funky!

So long... and thanks for all the fish!

Cracking Night at The Crawford

We had a great night at The Crawford last night. It's a brilliant place for music with lots of room for the band in the upper area of the main room, giving us a "stage".

Greg did the sound for us and I think the size of the speakers that he brought in possibly scared some. They're BIG!!! But having better speakers means a better sound, not necessarily more volume and the sound was awesome. Cheers Chief!

Our audience was extremely receptive from the start and by the end were jumping around like mad things! Just the way we like it! As a result, Ben and Mel (the landlords) asked us to continue our encore for another half an hour.

Thanks to everyone there who made it a brilliant night. Thanks to Ben and Mel for booking us in the first place but for also taking a chance on us playing "So What" after a request from the audience.

See Ben's review on Lemonrock

Five Go Mad in Cornwall

The summer's coming and I want to go to the seaside!

I had a mad idea a couple of weeks back that we could get afew consecutive bookings in the Newquay area and have a holiday at the beach.

We've got our first booking on July 26th at the Harlyn Inn near Padstow which looks like a fantastic spot. I'm trying to spread us around the area abit so that we get a new audience every night.

My aim is to try to get a gig every night that week, and then we finish off back at the Pen and Quill in Taunton on the Friday night. Not exactly on the way home but what the hell
