The REOFFENDERS

Punk Rock: Classic and Modern

The REOFFENDERS are on an indefinite break. Never say never, but we currently have no plans to play. However, we had joy and we had fun... and we blogged about it. Enjoy reading and reliving some good times.

36 Hours of Rain!

We were headlining Tavistock Summer Solstice festival last night and arrived at about 8pm to find that it had already been raining for 24 hours and everything was a wee bit wet. The rain alternated between drizzle and total downpour! Nice!

We had a couple of beers and watched the bands before us but we couldn't help but think how many more people there would have been if it had been better weather.

We were due on at 11.30 but times had slipped throughout the day so we didn't get on stage until 12.30am. The organisers had hoped to let us play our full set but at 1am we were told we had 15 minutes left to play - the police were nearby and would enforce the music licence.

So, we were a bit sad not to play our full set but glad we could reward the people who turned out for the festival who were impressively mad to stand in that much rain.

Well done to Steve for organising it, and big thanks to the sound guys who did a great job swapping the bands over.

Line Dancing at Zephyr

When the manager at Zephyr told me that we'd be playing upstairs due to refurbishments downstairs, I felt less than excited. It's a lot of heavy stuff to lug upstairs! But it's a very nice space and worked really well. There was a dance floor in front of us and another to the side so lots of space for people to boogie about.

Funniest moment: John and Bully do a silly dance during Psycho Killer which the people to the left joined in with resulting in about 10 people stepping back and forwards in a hokey kokey kind of manner.

Next time we'll probably be back downstairs. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new stage, lights and PA are like.

More Tshirts

We have our third shipment of tshirts on order. We're hoping to get them before this weekend's gigs and will have stock of all sizes, small up to XXL. Buy them online or at a gig.

It's great knowing that there's about 100 of these wandering around

Dirt Devil Dave

The audience at the Pen and Quill last night were surprised to see that Katie was looking decidedly male and sporting a beard. Actually no, Dirt Devil Dave was standing in for Katie while she's in Germany for five solo gigs. And a grand job he did too.

He's playing with us at Tavistock Summer Solstice festival next week so this was a warm up gig with a very "hit heavy" setlist and not as many of the lesser known tunes.

A couple of guys came over from Wellington whcih was cool and obviously natural victims for John to stroke during Toxic. It was good to see Mutley up and about again, and as always great to see Gary, Andy and Mark and the lovely people with the beautiful (and expensive) boots dancing their socks off.

Top moment for me was when a suitcase that Bully uses for his bass stuff was cast into the dance floor as a substitute handbag and Indesit dancing round it. It was a rather comedic gig with interjections from the whole band - even Dave got in with a sarcastic comment during one of Hoover's lengthy intros.

Do do dum dum do, do do do do do do.......

Andy at BayFM just emailed me the interview that Hoover and Tefal did last week. I'm slightly embarrassed to say that I didn't hear it live because I was watching Indiana Jones at the cinema with Indesit! Oopsie! It was great to hear it finally.

As well as lots of talk about The REOFFENDERS, there's also a live recording of Katie Tefal playing and singing her own material... my favourite "Not Like You", AKA "the do do do do do song"

Have a listen...

Cheers to Martin for inviting us to the interview and to Andy for sending me the MP3. I hope you guys enjoyed listening to BayFM - if you did, email radio@bayfm.co.uk and tell them what you thought. Any comments however small will help towards them getting a permanent license. Andy and Julie have worked their asses of for this and I really hope they get it!

First Gig at Kingsbridge

Saturday saw the Reoffenders debuting in Kingsbridge, not exactly known for its punk rock credentials but hey, we're happy to spread the good word!

Hoover, Indesit and I went over early as it was a nice day and checked the pub out before going for a stroll along the river and a mooch around town. Very nice it was too. We had some food at the Creeks End before setting up our stuff in a leisurely manner.

Some confusion over the finish time meant that we had to stop early but as the crowd called for more we got a reprieve and kept going till 11.30pm. I'm not sure that the audience quite new what to make of us when we started but by half time, were getting into it. I think it was the Seasons in the Sun silly dance that did it ;-)

It's a really nice pub so hopefully we'll be back there in the Autumn
