The REOFFENDERS

Punk Rock: Classic and Modern

The REOFFENDERS are on an indefinite break. Never say never, but we currently have no plans to play. However, we had joy and we had fun... and we blogged about it. Enjoy reading and reliving some good times.

Last Exeter Gigs for a while

After this week, The REOFFENDERS won't be back in Exeter for two months so we're giving you two chances to see us this week, you lucky lucky people. We covered 200+ miles on the M5 last weekend so it's nice to be home.

We're expecting to include nine new songs as well as lots of old favourites but we'll be mixing it up a lot so that if anyone does want to come to both gigs, they'll get two very different gigs.

Catch us at the Longbrook on Cowick Street on Thursday and the Jolly Porter at St Davids on Saturday

What a night down the rock gardens in muddy Weston. The REOFFENDERS brought the enthusiastic croud into the late seventies with a full flow of authentic punk. Cant wait for October when im sure the numbers will swell after that last performance

Hitting the Press

We had a lot of press coverage about the Rock Gardens gig. Both the venue and Hoover had sent press releases to the newspapers so we had nice colour pics and a good write up in two Weston newspapers.

By happy accident, we also ended up on the front cover of the Scrumpy n Western gig guide. It was cool (if not a bit weird) to see copies of the magazine on the bar in the Rock Gardens with our mugs on the front, and to see people in the venue reading about us before we started playing.

Our poster was also used as the back cover of Scrumpy n Western and our biogs included inside (which must seem very bizarre to the casual reader!)

The Rock Gardens

We had a marvellous night last night at the Rock Gardens, a new venue in Weston-super-Mare. And bloody brilliant it is there too! They haven't been open that long but they're very committed to having live music, and really nice people too.

It's a big venue with a stage and drum riser - lovely! Katie was a particularly happy bunny! Not only did she get a drum riser but she got to use her Chad Smith snare which in most venues is too loud. It cracks like a MOFO and sounds gorgeous.

There was some rather impressive spikes and mohawks in the audience which had me a bit nervous - would we get bottled off if we did Britney? By the time we got to Seasons in the Sun though, aforementioned mohawk was bobbing up and down in time to our silly dance. Hurrah!

There was lots of comedians in the audience, heckling in a panto like stylee. It gave Hoover some good banter and he was on top form and using his wireless mic to the max. Bully was running around like a mad thing all night, I thought we were gonna have to get the defribulator out again! There were so many songs that I wanted us to play but couldn't fit in without ending up doing a four hour gig and killing the rhythm section! It was great to have such a captive audience who sang along with everything.

It's the first time that we've had a good stage area but using our own equipment which was really nice for me because I could control the lights. Does it make a difference to the audience? I dunno, but hopefully it adds to the overall performance. We enjoyed it so much that Paul resurrected the balloon bursting ritual, resulting in some nasty balloons scar.... but how rock n roll eh?

We stayed for a couple of games of pool after we'd packed away while the landlord kindly sorted out some chips for us! Wicked! Everyone was soooooo friendly and loving it, we had an absolute ball. We're back there in October and have been booked already for a couple of dates next year - a nice venue to add to our list of favourites.

Cheers to everyone who turned up, we'll see you (and all your mates) next time :-D

New Songs for a New Venue

We've got a new venue in store for us this weekend, The Rock Gardens at Weston Super Mare. They're a new venue but plan to have music four nights a week and are getting their own PA sorted. They really mean business, and it sounds rather exciting (ok, ok, its the 15K PA that's got me excited! Sadly that hasn't been installed yet - next time though!)

We were working on new songs last night and have four to add this weekend from X Ray Spex, Offspring, The Buzzcocks and Goldblade.

More rehearsals next week where we're working on another half a dozen newies. Variety is the spice of life, and all that...

History of the Reoffenders - In Pics

I've been going through some old pics tonight and have put together a Facebook photo album that traces the band from the very beginning.

But... you'll have to join Facebook to look at it. sorry, but it takes ages to put together so I'll only be doing it once.

Go to our Facebook page for this and more photos as well as updates, etc.

You'll Never Leave.....!

Katie splashed out on a new kickdrum skin this week and very smart it looks too! I've told her (obviously AFTER she bought it) that if she ever leaves, her drums will look stoopid!

Mwah ha ha! You can never leave us, Ms Tefal! Mwah ha ha!

Indesit Music

The very talented Mr Indesit has started a new myspace for music that he's written himself (which is all a bit too nice to be punkified!)

Check it out

Punk Night at the Hairy Dog!

Back in Minehead at the Hairy Dog last night, possibly for the last time until we return on 31st Dec to help them ring in the New Year.

Was great to see the venue have printed their own posters to complement ours billing it as a special Punk night - magic. You'll be sure we nicked one of them at the end of the night as a souvenir.

Talked to a few of the Minehead punters and thanks for saying how much you enjoyed it. But we must give a special mention to the couple who really "looked the part" with a fantastic get-up including a marvellous piece of REOFFENDERS atwork put onto the back of a leather jacket. REOFFENDERS logo and everything... most impressive. I never got the chance to thank them enough or to get a picture of them looking so truly georgeous.

Was also great to meet up with Drew at DB Ents www.db-ents.co.uk who's got us some excellent gigs and run a great agency. Nice to see you mate!

Quiet night for messrs Hover and Morph tonight, and then Sunday afternoon madness at the Phoenix in Exmouth beckons. Super :o)

Hoover and out!

Cornall Shows us Some Love

Click on the article below to see an enlarged version

Looks like Paul's been promoted! LOL!

I'm not entirely sure that we were trying to start a riot. It was a very good natured crowd that danced a lot. Hmmm
