We started out at the beer festival on Thursday night which is a good way to start your birthday but not necessarily a good idea before two consecutive gigs.
Suffice to say, I felt sick all day Friday and drank coke all night. Hoover took great delight in dedicating Too Drunk to Fuck to Me. Nice! It was a bit quiet at Tiverton as they'd partied quite hard on the Easter weekend by all accounts, but those who were there got into the spirit.
We had our first full gig at the Royal Oak in Exminster on Saturday. We weren't sure how busy it would be because its a very big room where the band plays but it was very well supported. It was good to see some of SOB's following there too, vocal as ever
We had much more room than normal so had lots of space between the mics and the drums to jump about and generally be silly. We even had our own mini circles going back there!
At the start of the encore, we were asked (in quite an original way) to play Teenage Kicks again. The requester then produced a tray of JD shots for each of the band... so how could we refuse?
As it was Paul and Smeg's joint birthday, there was much post gig silliness and dodgy photos which I obviously feel obliged to publish (tee hee). Paul downed 4 aftershocks in one glass just before we left which meant he fell into a coma as soon as he'd finished his pizza. Ahhhh, bless!
Top night! Roll on next Saturday!
